Flourish as a family, love to learn, make memories, shine!

If you want to know more about our purposeful Briar Hill Infant School Curriculum

and to find out more about each subject, go to our 'Curriculum Pages' and 'Learning in Action' video page.

We place high value on reading. It is important to practice at home and we ask that you read daily with your child or at least 3 times a week, decoding words and discussing the content of the text. Practicing reading at home regularly impacts positively on both reading and writing progress. It enables your child to access all areas of learning within the curriculum.

You will find some helpful prompts in your child's home-school reading diary. Please do record when you have read with your child in the diary. Click on the Year Group Pages provide information about your child's curriculum, the essential knowledge organisers with key vocabulary and key information to help them learn and remember more.

Homework is set each week alternating between phonics/spelling and maths. We focus on the phonics/spelling and maths to help your child secure reading, writing and maths foundational knowledge through consistent practice at home to consolidate their knowledge with parents/carers support at home.

Respectful relationships are an integral part of our restorative approach and whole school culture. As well as ensuring we all 'flourish as a family, love to learn, make memories, shine!' , we also have a collective approach to being great citizens and knowing why and how we 'do things' at Briar Hill Infant School in our purposeful curriculum content, our pedagogial approach to teaching and learning and our restorative approach to manage relationships and develop positive learning and social behaviours.
