Briar Hill Infant School
British Values
Mrs Foreman is our British Values Lead
At Briar Hill we actively promote British Values in school to ensure our pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. We want all our pupils to have a positive self-image and we celebrate these similarities and differences. We encourage our children to have mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths, cultures and beliefs and understand that while different people may have different views all people living in England are subject to its law.
We teach our British Values themes through whole school assemblies, across year groups within the classroom as well as through special enrichment days across the school federation. The British Value themes run through our whole school curriculum and underpin everything that we do. Our PSHE and RE lessons provide further opportunities to develop and deepen the key British Value themes.
The Department for Education has stated that the key British Values taught within school are:
Democracy
Rule of law
Individual Liberty
Mutual respect
Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs
