Science

Mrs Catto is our Science Lead

Children are naturally curious and love to investigate the world around them in a hands-on way. At Briar Hill we provide exciting and purposeful opportunities for children to explore scientific concepts through practical enquiry. We encourage them to ask their own questions, make observations and perform a variety of simple tests. They ponder ideas, research facts, and talk knowledgeably about what they discover. This helps them learn and understand more about seasons, materials and the plants and animals in the world in which we live.

With a full programme of extra science events and inspiring STEM opportunities, our children become confident in their growing identity as 'Super Scientists'.

For a snapshot of science teaching or some fun experiments to try at home - watch these videos and more can be found in the 'learning in action' tab.
