School Meals

We have a very successful and popular school meals service, with the meals cooked in our own kitchen. On average, about half of the children at St Margaret's School enjoy a hot school meal with the rest bringing a packed lunch. We have a 3 week cycle of menus.

If pupils choose to have a packed lunch, we encourage them to bring healthy options in their lunchbox and do not allow fizzy drinks in school.

All pupils eat their lunch, whether packed or a school meal, in their respective year groups over four sittings in the school hall.

WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL

As we have several children on role with severe nut allergies, may we politely remind parents that children are not allowed to bring in nuts as part of their break time snacks/packed lunches - this includes nutty cereal bars. Although ‘healthy’ for many people, even the smell or touching these foods can have a severe effect on some of our children. Thank you for following this rule.

Is your family eligible for free school meals?

Free school meals come with Pupil Premium Funding. This funding enables the school to provide extra support such as interventions, access to clubs and additional teaching resources. The school will also provide parents/carers with a £50 budget that you can use to support your child’s education in any way. For example, to pay for school or external clubs, uniform or trips. Families who receive the following are eligible for free school meals: income support, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), income-related employment and support allowance (ESA), guarantee element of state pension credit, Universal Credit (with an annual income of less than £7,400).
