Briar Hill Infant School

Vision and Values

Welcome to Briar Hill Infant School where we:

'Flourish as a family, love to learn, make memories, shine!'

It is a huge privilege to be the Head of School and support our team of highly skilled staff who are passionate about helping the next generation to flourish. Our intentional pedagogy and teaching strategies enable all children to become confident, independent and to develop a love of learning to ensure that they are well-prepared for the next stage of their learning. Throughout their time at Briar Hill Infant School we offer memorable experiences so that every child has the opportunity to shine!

Our curriculum prioritises emotional, social and academic intelligence as well as all children's wellbeing. We provide a wide range of enhanced opportunities and experiences to learn about the world around them and to inspire our children to be aspirational about their own future.  Our wellbeing dog, Mabel offers emotional and social support to many children and is well-loved by all. You can also find out more about our Briar Hill Curriculum by clicking the Year Group and Curriculum tab.

We are a highly regarded, welcoming and outward looking infant school. We serve a diverse and evolving community and actively encourage and foster very positive relationships with all parents/carers.  We teach our children that resilience and perseverance are essential to make the most of every opportunity. Our children have highly positive attitudes and good behaviours for learning, demonstrating empathy for others and high levels of self- confidence with a 'can do' attitude. We have a 'This is how we do it here' approach and a 'I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... I knew I could!' attitude.

Our Federation Friends (PTA) enable us to enhance the provision we offer all children within and beyond the school day.

Briar Hill Infant School was last inspected in February 2014 and judged to be 'Outstanding'. We provide excellent provision for our children and families and are highly regarded both locally and beyond, sharing our practice with many schools. The ever changing educational landscape, expectations and budgets continue to present both opportunities and challenges, and we continue research, review to further improve our practice and consistently provide the very best education and care.

Children are at the heart of every decision we make.

Please enjoy looking at our full website. We have a range of videos you may also wish to watch on the Teaching and Learning Videos page. These provide a snapshot of how we promote a love of learning through our vision and enable our children to flourish, make memories and shine!

Federated School: St. Margaret's CE Junior School

We are federated with St Margaret's CE Junior School and have our shared vision and cohesive curriculum from Reception to Year Six as well as shared practice which ensure a smooth transition, should your child transition into St Margaret's Junior School.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
