Vision and Values

Welcome to Briar Hill Infant School

It is a huge privilege to work with a team of highly skilled staff passionate about helping the next generation to flourish. As well as develop a curriculum that 'hooks' children's imagination and enables them to develop a love of learning, to develop teaching and learning strategies that help all children to become independent and remember the knowledge they need to succeed and to offer many broad and balanced memorable experiences so that every child has the opportunity to shine. Our excellent team ensure this happens through our vision:

'Flourish as a family, love to learn, make memories and shine!'

Briar Hill is a friendly and vibrant three-form entry infant school teaching children in Reception and Key Stage One (Year 1 and 2).  We are a highly regarded school serving a diverse and evolving community and we encourage and foster very positive relationships with parents/carers. We teach our children that resilience and perseverance are essential to make the most of every opportunity! We see this in action through our children's positive attitudes and behaviours for learning, their developing empathy for others and increased self confidence  which instils in them a 'can do' attitude such as 'I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... and ending with I knew I could!' as they develop their knowledge.  We are fortunate to have a super and supportive Parent School Association (PTA) which enables us to enhance the provision we offer within and beyond our school environment.

Our school was inspected in February 2014 and judged to be 'outstanding'. The ever changing educational landscape, expectations and budgets continue to present both opportunities and challenges as we immerse our children in deep learning and help to prepare them well for life beyond Briar Hill Infant School. We are federated with St. Margaret's CE Junior School and have highly effective links across both schools though our shared vision, our cohesive curriculum, ethos and practices which ensure a smooth transition into school  in Reception  and as children progress to Year Two at Briar Hill to the highly effective change of school transition into Year Three at St. Margaret's.

Please enjoy looking at the rest of our website, including the class and curriculum pages, which will provide you with snapshot of how we promote a love of learning at Briar Hill through our vision to enable all of our children to flourish, make memories and shine!
