OWL School Projects

The main purpose of our link is one of friendship.

Every year, we take part in a schools’ project, organised by OWL, where pupils at St Margaret’s complete work and letters to send to Bo. At the same time, pupils at BDEC Messima send work back to us. In recent years, this work has been based around a book covering an environmental issue: the problem of plastic pollution and deforestation in particular. These books have been shared for lessons at St Margaret’s and BDEC Messima:

Our friendship link is kept alive by the annual sharing of school projects and letters.

One of our Courageous Advocacy projects included reading the book 'Wangari's Trees of Peace' - a true story about a woman in Africa who started a community movement planting trees to improve her local environment. We planned an English unit of work from which the children learned about the importance of trees to our world, the importance and effect of activism and ended by planting three saplings in our school grounds. Our link school in Bo also used the book in school and planted a tree within their compound.
