St Margaret’s CE Junior School
Art
Our Art lead is Mrs Atkins.
Art and design offers children the opportunity to develop creativity through a range of tactile and sensory experiences. The children are given the opportunity to develop their understanding of colour, form, texture and pattern, working in both 2D and 3D using a range of materials and processes. Furthermore, through exploring the work of artists from a variety of times and cultures, the children learn to make thoughtful judgements and practical decisions enabling them to develop a wider range of artistic skills. A record of their work and progress is kept in their individual sketchbooks.

Arts Mark
All children across the school took part in the opportunity to create a banner for our school, incorporating our school vision and relationship with The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. Shakespeare Birthplace Trust have been working closely with St. Margaret’s in order to provide enriching and immersive learning opportunities for our children. As part of a finale following our 18 month partnership, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust have contributed towards Crazy Mary workshops for the whole school to create a lasting memory of our joint partnership towards our Arts Mark journey.
Every single child in the school took part and were fully immersed within the activities. It was lovely to see so much perseverance, determination and hard work from all our children. We were in absolute awe of what the children and Mary produced and when shown in assembly, it was fantastic to see the admiration from children for their efforts and contributions to our school banner. Thank you to The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Mary, our children and all our school staff for working so hard to create a lasting memory.
St Margaret's partnership with the Shakespeare Birthplace
As part of our Artsmark partnership with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, we have been working closely to provide fun and exciting learning opportunities for our children. Recently, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust have published an article sharing the positive impact of our partnership on both children and staff. Children have been given invaluable opportunities through our partnership and have been given lots of fantastic opportunities to learn more about our local heritage. We have been very lucky to work alongside the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and are looking forward to the many exciting opportunities planned over the course of the year.
