Briar Hill Infant School
We follow the Jigsaw PSHE Scheme; which focuses on using a mindfulness approach as a key part of the children's learning. This equips children with the skills to draw on mindfulness techniques in many situations as a way to support calming and relaxing feelings to help cope with difficult emotions. Throughout the scheme the children will learn about keeping safe and healthy, working as team, belonging and friendship and families. Each year group has their own Jigsaw soft toy 'buddy' who plays a part in each lesson.
Alongside Jigsaw we also teach a Personal Safety Curriculum (previously known as Protective Behaviours/Taking Care) to ensure children understand how to keep themselves and their bodies safe.
PSHE underpins all of our teaching and learning in order to support our children and help them to develop effective characteristics of learning and skills for life.
